Tommy:
After an 8 year battle with HLHS, Tommy received the gift of life yesterday in the form of a new, perfect heart! He had been on the donor list for nearly one year, it has been only a few weeks since his good friend, Ethan, went home to the Lord after his own battle. I am certain that his special angel Ethan helped bring this heart to Tommy. Please pray for his continued recovery, as well as his body's acceptance of this new heart.
Also, please pray for the donor family. The sad reality of the situation is that one special life has now ended in order for another to continue. That family is in need of all the prayers we can offer on their behalf.
Brendan:
Brendan underwent his balloon valvuloplasty earlier this week, and by all accounts, is doing remarkably well. He is alert and active, and hungry. He is consuming the breastmilk his mommy is pumping for him voraciously, which is a good sign as heart babies tend to be poor eaters due to the energy it takes to suckle. His echoes have been favorable and show blood passing through the pulmonary valve, a great sign! Also, the prostagladins have been turned off and the ductus should be closed soon...this will show how the heart will truly function on it's own as the ductus is open in fetal life and closes soon after birth, unless you mean to keep it open.
Please continue to pray for Maureen, Barry, Caitlyn and little Brendan.
May God bless all our CHD warriors!!
